چکیده

In the study presented here, we investigated K-Ar age determination and petrological significance of trace element compositions Bitlis (Eastern Anatolia) ignimbrites associated with explosive activities well-known Nemrut volcano. geochronological dating ignimbrite flow deposits gave 790 ka which corresponds to first products pre-caldera stages stratovolcano. trachydacitic shoshonitic affinity are characterized by typical negative anomalies Eu, Nb-Ta, Ti in chondrite-normalized spider multi-element variation diagrams, plot fields within-plate post-collisional tectonic setting Rb vs Y+Nb discrimination diagram. Accordingly, similar that volcanic products, signatures (e.g., high Nb, Ce, Y, Zr contents) show coincidence geochemical characteristics A2-type silicic magmas. Relative upper crust, higher La/Ba Nb/La, lower Ba/Ta La/Ta ratios ignimbrites, close basalts, suggest an interaction between OIB-like basaltic magma crust. Our results point generation Eastern Anatolia extensional setting, pyroclastic rocks ignimbrites) formed partial melting crustal at shallow level via derived from a common mantle source.

In the Case of Maden Complex, Geochemical Constraints on the Origin and Tectonic Implication of Eocene Magmatism in SE Turkey

The origin and geodynamic setting of the Maden Complex, which is situated in the Bitlis–Zagros Suture Zone in the Southeast Anatolian Orogenic Belt, is still controversial due to lack of systematic geological and geochemical data. Here we present new whole rock major–trace–rare earth element data from the Middle Eocene volcanic rocks exposed in Maden Complex and discuss their origin in the ligh...

TECTONOMAGMATIC CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ETIVE IGNEOUS COMPLEX, SOUTH WEST SCOTLAND

The Etive igneous complex has intruded into Dalradian and Moine meta-sedimentary rocks in Devonian. Main rock types of the complex are granodiorite, monzodiorite, monzogranite, granite and diorite. Geochemical studies show that the magmas were of high K calc-alkaline, I-type and metaluminous nature. Application of discriminant diagrams to the Etive rocks indicates a possible within-plate tecton...

K-Ar and Ar-Ar Dating

The aim of this chapter is to present the K-Ar and Ar-Ar dating techniques in the context of noble gas studies, since there are already several recent texts on K-Ar and ArAr dating (Dickin 1995; McDougall and Harrison 1999). The focus of this section will be aspects of argon transport and storage in the crust, which affect K-Ar and Ar-Ar dating including Ar-loss from minerals by diffusion and A...
